Short Courses

Each course consists of approximately 36 hours of lectures with labs and 108 hours of projects. Each course prescribes a certificate showing the number of earned 4 ECTS.

Introduction into Optical Engineering

If you want to expand your skills in basic principles and approaches of modern optical and light engineering - this course is for you! The course includes basic principles of geometrical and applied optics, design of optical systems and devices.

Projects include experimental and practical tasks performed in Students’ research laboratory of optics.

Optical System Design

If you want to expand your skills in design of optical systems such are telescopes, photographic objectives, microscope objectives, eyepieces, illuminators, lightguide systems, laser collimators and concentrators, and others - this course is for you! The course includes basics of image aberration theory and design using theory of Seidel sums and automatic correction using special software. Course covers the range of issues related to basic principles of optical system design including initial synthesis, analysis, optimization (correction) and the manufacturability estimation.

Projects include design of a wide range of optical systems using commercialoptical design software.

Design of Optical Devices and Components

If you want to expand your skills in principles of optics mounting in optical devices, depending on purpose and conditions of the device operation as well as study commercial CAD tools and develop CAD software by your own - this course is for you! The course includes basic principles of optical devices’ design. Basic working methods of the development of optical devices in the modern production are considered. The focus is on the design and development of device units.

Projects include design of a wide range of optical devices using commercial and special CAD software.

Optical Image Modeling and Processing

If you want to expand your skills in optical image formation and processing, understanding how optical aberrations influence onto optical image quality and what are the ways to improve optical image quality, if you want to practice in optical image software development by your own - this course is for you!The course includes basic optical imaging theory and basic principles of image processing.

Projects are includes optical image modeling and optical image processing in C++ programming language.
